The HAMBURG SCHOOL OF ENGLISH is committed to establishing and maintaining the highest possible standards in language education. As teachers and teaching are at the heart of what we do, we chose to establish a Teacher Training Centre in 2003.
We offer full-time initial teacher training courses leading to the Cambridge ESOL CELTA as well as in-service training and other teacher development opportunities for teachers and schools.
The open and spacious atmosphere in the building, the well-stocked library with its full range of reference and resource books, full WiFi access, and our comprehensive set of teaching aids including MP3 players, overhead projectors, video / DVD facilities and a data projector offer you every opportunity to explore and realize your potential as a teacher.
But when it comes to professional development, material resources are far less important than the support and impetus that you receive from qualified, capable and encouraging tutors. The tutors who you will work with on your initial teacher training course are among the most experienced in their field and they practice what they preach – investing time and energy in their own professional development by attending conferences, running workshops and writing articles for journals.
Our school is located in Eppendorf, one of the most desirable and central residential areas in Hamburg. We are literally just a few minutes walk from the Alster lake and parks, which are a magnet both for joggers and for those seeking time out from the cosmopolitan bustle of the town. We have been running CELTA courses since 2003 and now train around 60 teachers per year. The Teacher Training Centre occupies an Art Nouveau period villa with its own garden, situated next to a tree-lined canal.
